A Mobile Mower Mechanic is home based in the Kempsville section of Virginia
Beach. The company was started in 1995 by William "Sandy" Sanders
as a hobby. Two years later he and his wife Shannon chose the name A
Mobile Mower Mechanic, got a license, business phone, and went into
the Yellow Pages. A Mobile Mower Mechanic has been growing ever since.
My name is Dan Krum. Over the course of 1998 through 2000 I worked off
and on with my best friend Sandy learning small engine repair.
In 2000, Sandy, a Gunners Mate Chief Petty Officer in the United States
Navy, transferred to Yokosuka, Japan and I took over the business and
licensed it in my name.
Sandy retired from active duty with 25 years of service, at Weapons Station
Earle, N.J. in December 2006. Sandy is originally from South Weber, Utah
which is where he and Shannon and their three children have returned to
live. Sandy now works for a government contractor.
I am originally from Trenton, NJ and had my education is sheet metal however,
my career in ornamental iron and as a fitter. Sandy and I met at church
in Virginia Beach where we discovered a mutual interest in all things
mechanical. We were soon involved heavily in the restoration of antique
tractors, engines and farm equipment and attending all the shows we could
within a days drive.
In 1973 right out of high school I joined the Navy as a Hull Technician.
I got out after four years which is when I pursued my career as a fitter.
Board with shift work and civilian life I went back in the Navy in 1980.
I completed my final sea tour onboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) in
May of 2004. I have served on ships in California, Florida and Virginia.
I served one shore tour in Washington, D.C. and two here in Norfolk. I
retired with from active duty with 30 years of service in June 2006 as
a Damage Controlman Master Chief.
A Mobile Mower Mechanic has always been a part-time business however,
at the start of the 2007 season I began operating full time, closing only
at the seasons end, October, November time frame and reopening in mid-March
and for short periods at slower times.
Sandy and I have always taken great personal pride in providing quality
service at a competitive price, and while coming to you!
